Sort of a cricket person
Swanton, Ernest William, 1907-
Sort of a Cricket Person is Swanton’s personal
story of his life in cricket until shortly before
his retirement. It is a lively and penetrating
record of its leading personalities, from Hobbs
and Bradman to Benaud and Sobers, and
the development of the game over half a
century is traced from first-hand observation.
There are also chapters on rugby and golf, on
broadcasting, and on his harrowing years in
Japanese POW camps following the fall of
Singapore in 1942.
